Julie Toplery Southdowns Customer Liason Manager

Julie Topley

Customer Liaison Manager

Southdowns' Customer Liaison Manager Julie Topley has worked for the company twice. Having originally joined in 2001, she left two years later and then after 12 months with another company, came back to her old job. We finally managed to keep her off the phone long enough to find out what brought her back.

Q What initially attracted you to Southdowns?
A The wording of the job advert for a 'Girl Friday' really appealed to me - I liked the idea of doing a bit of everything. I like to be busy and I love being customer facing. Having been here a while, I fancied a change but I really missed the variety of different jobs that I get involved in here.

Q What did you do during your 'year out' from Southdowns?
A I worked as a general administrator for James Duke Dairies in Siddlesham , mainly inputting data into a SAGE accounting system.

Q So what brought you back?
A I wasn't busy enough and I was doing more or less the same job every day. I missed dealing with customers on a day to day basis.

Q What does an average day involve for you at Southdowns?
A Every day is different and I just do whatever is needed at that particular time. To a large extent my day depends on who phones us and what they need us to do.

Q Have you ever spent a night in a motorhome?
A No, but I might consider it if it was a Concorde. Camping isn't really me - I like a long hot shower and a hairdryer!

Q If you did get that Concorde, where would you take it?
A I'd like to visit little villages in rural Spain or France and really sample some of the local culture.

Q If you could fulfil one ambition, what would it be?
A I'd like to learn to drive one of our really big motorhomes - a Concorde Liner maybe.

Julie lives in Sidlesham with her husband, Martin. They have two sons. Mark lives in Tanzania with his wife and baby daughter and works for dental charity Bridge2Aid. Neil is a maths teacher at Bishop Luffa School in Chichester. Julie was interviewed in August 2005.
