Lynne Simpson
Accounts Assistant
Lynne joined the Southdowns’ accounts team in April 2008. After three
months with the company, we found a rare quiet moment to ask her about her job.
Q What initially attracted you to work for Southdowns?
A I spent six years as an accounts administrator before I had my children and
was looking for a local, part-time job that would fit around my family
commitments. The job Southdowns was advertising sounded similar to what I had
done before and I liked the idea of working in the leisure industry.
Q What are your key responsibilities?
A Every day is different - and always busy. As Jeannette’s (the financial
controller) assistant, my main responsibilities are to invoice customers, deal
with suppliers and make sure all the paperwork is accurate and up to date. In
reality I do anything and everything that comes my way.
Q What is the best thing about working for the company
A Southdowns has a really friendly atmosphere. I like the fact that it is a
family business – it makes what we do feel like a genuine team effort.
Q Does working with motorhomes hold an appeal for you?
A When I was a little girl, we had lots of family holidays in caravans. The
motorhomes are great – but I wouldn’t want to drive one!
Q If you could take a motorhome anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A I would love to go to Australia – it’s the perfect place to go travelling in a
motorhome. I love the idea of all that freedom.
Q Finally, what is your personal philosophy?
A Life is short, so live it to the full and make the most of it.
Lynne lives in Milton with her fiancé Scott and their two sons Toby (3) and Archie
(2). Lynne and Scott are planning to get married next August.
