Michael Button
Service/Warranty Adviser
With a background in the motor trade, Michael joined Southdowns in September 2016 and works closely with the front-of-house team at Quartermaine Road
Q Tell us about your career prior to joining Southdowns
Before I came to Southdowns I worked for Protyre who are about five minutes down the road, in a very similar role on their front desk.
Q What made you want to work for Southdowns?
I saw the job at Southdowns advertised and the job didn’t involve working on Saturdays. As I’ve got a young family that really appealed to me. The role was a bit daunting at first because motorhomes are completely new to me but it helps to have a technical background and I’m getting to know what’s what. My motto is “If in doubt, ask Andy Bottle” (Southdowns Workshop Manager). He knows everything!
Q What does your job involve day-to-day?
On a typical day I will be speaking to customers, booking their vehicles in for servicing, producing and sending out invoices and processing warranty claims. I also deal with complaints but luckily this isn’t something I do every day.
Q What are your initial impressions of the company?
It’s exactly what I expected. Good people to work with and everyone’s happy to help if you don’t know something. The technicians are all very approachable.
Q Do you have a personal interest in motorhomes?
I’m not really a camper. I prefer a hot, beach holiday in a nice hotel – preferably with a good golf course! I’m a keen golfer and play as often as I can.
Q If you could take a motorhome anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d love to go to Las Vegas – but preferably not in a motorhome!
Michael lives in Copnor with Gemma and their daughter Scarlett and son Logan. They are planning a November wedding and a trip to the USA to celebrate.
