Ryan vevers Southdowns motorhome Valeter

Ryan Vevers

Motorhome Valeter

At 18, Ryan is the youngest member of the Southdowns team and joined the company part-time straight from school in 2006. He became a full-time valeter when the company moved to Anchorage Park at the end of January 2007.

Q What are your key responsibilities?
A I'm responsible for general cleaning duties and working with Cliff Parker valeting the inside of the motorhomes.

Q Briefly describe your average working day
A Any motorhomes that are due for handover to customers are given priority, because they have to go out looking really good. Then I work my way through all the other motorhomes we have in stock. We've got about 60 at the moment so it's a big job!

Q What attracted you to work for Southdowns?
A My dad is the Southdowns workshop manager and when I needed a job, he thought I would like working here.

Q What is the best thing about working for the company
A I work with nice people - everyone's friendly. Working with my dad was a bit weird at first but I've got used to it and now I don't see very much of him during the day.

Q Does working with motorhomes hold an appeal for you?
A I think they appeal more to older people with families - I'd rather stay in a hotel! But if I could borrow one for a week or two I 'd like to go to Portugal.

Q Finally, if you could fulfil one ambition, what would it be?
A I'd like to move abroad - somewhere with better weather than England and a good lifestyle.

Ryan lives in Bognor with his mum and dad and his brothers. He once had a trial for Millwall Football Club but n the end he decided it might be safer to stick to playing football with his friends!

Ryan was interviewed in March 2007.
