Arundel Castle

Arundel Castle has been the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk for 700 years and is currently owned by Miles Francis, the 17th Duke. The castle is open to visitors from 1 April to 31 October and provides a fascinating insight into English history, with beautiful grounds and gardens and a collection of artefacts ranging from paintings and furniture to heraldry and armour. The town of Arundel, directly below the castle, is also worth visiting for its fascinating array of antique markets and second-hand bookshops.

Chichester Cathedral is not only a centre of christian worship but is also used for recitals, exhibitions and drama. It houses a wide range of works of art from Romanesque stone carvings to twentieth century paintings, sculpture and tapestries. Guided tours of the cathedral are given Monday to Saturday from Easter Monday to the end of October.

Take a step back in time to the glory days of the 1960s when motor racing heroes like Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart battled for pole position at Goodwood. Today two major events are held here - the Festival of Speed in June and the Revival Meeting in September. Both are well worth a visit.
