The Bailey of Bristol Approach SE 760 motorhome has been selected to appear in a recent BBC Top Gear film, recorded as part of the current series, showcasing the best of British motor vehicle manufacturing and engineering.

Given the subject matter filming took place in one of the most recognisable and spectacular locations in the country - on The Mall outside Buckingham Palace - in a celebration of all things British.

With several hundred vehicles of all shapes and sizes involved in the film shoot it was a huge logistical exercise to get everything positioned on time, meaning deliveries had to be made to central London over a five hour period starting at midnight. Once the stage was set the three programme presenters, Jeremy Clarkson, James May & Richard Hammond, then joined proceedings in red white & blue Jaguar F-Type sports cars adorned with union jacks and filming began. Plus to make sure that everybody felt especially patriotic the day of the shoot happened to coincide with Changing of The Guard at Buckingham Palace, so everybody was treated to an appearance by the Marching Bands of The Guards and the House Hold Cavalry.

The result was a typically 'chest-thumping' endorsement for the contribution that Britain has and continues to make to the global motor industry from one of the most popular television programmes in the world. Bailey motorhomes are built at the Company's South Liberty Lane production plant in South Bristol.

All models are powered by a 2.2 Hdi 130 bhp engine complete with a 6-speed manual gearbox housed in a Peugeot Boxer Euro 5 cab and thus benefit from the resulting improvements in performance and reduction in vehicle emissions. The fully-specified cab is matched to a low profile lightweight AL-KO AMC chassis which, with its lower centre of gravity, provides a more balanced weight distribution that improves road holding and braking efficiency as well as allowing for increases in user payloads.

The bodyshell is built using the Bailey patented Alu-Tech construction system, complete with a GRP outer skin and under floor protection, to create a leisure vehicle which is more robust, more durable and yet lighter than those manufactured using conventional methods to offer greater protection against the elements to keep owners comfortable, safe and secure all year round.

Bailey Marketing Director Simon Howard, who was present during the filming, commented "We were very proud to be selected to represent our industry in this celebration of the Best of British motor vehicle manufacturing and engineering". "Looking up and down The Mall during the shoot it was great to see the tremendous variety of world-class British-made motor vehicles in Britain in one place at the same time. It made you feel that you were part of something really special" he added.
